Throughout the years Jason has been fortunate to perform/work/record with: Roy Haynes, Benny Golson, Wynton Marsalis Greg Osby, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ravi Coltrane, Jimmy Smith (the organist), Curtis Lundy, Lewis Nash, Kirk Whalum, Kevin Mahagony, Common (hip-hop artist), Matana Roberts, Grace Kelly, Teri Lynn Carrington, John Lockwood, Ali Jackson, Igor Lumpert, Joanne Brackeen, Cyrus Chestnut, Billy Pierce, Darren Barrett, Justin Robinson, Jeremy Pelt, Herbie Hancock, Aaron Goldberg, Fransisco Mela, Andre Heyward, Sean Jones, Tim Warfield, Warren Wolf, Jimmy Greene, Bilal, Kareem Riggins, Derick Hodge, Bob Moses, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Shephard, Gabriel Hernandez, Ivan Renata, Walter Smith III, Darren Barrett, Stan Strickland, Edgar Bateman, Jeff Tain Watts, Matt Wilson, David Gilmore, etc.

Currently, Jason holds the trumpet chair in saxophonist Grace Kelly’s quintet. With this quintet, Jason has performed at the Tanglewood Jazz Festival, Sculler’s Jazz Club, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center (D.C.), and the Jazz Bakery (L.A). From 2004 to 2006, Jason Palmer was a member of Blue Note recording artist Greg Osby’s quintet. With this group, Jason performed at major jazz festivals in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, France, Malta, Netherlands, as well as two stints at the Village Vanguard in New York City. In January of 2007, Jason Palmer had the great opportunity to perform with hip-hop artist Common on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Jason was also a finalist in the 2003 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Solo Trumpet Competition held in Orlando, Florida. Jason was a resident at the 2000 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at Aspen Snowmass in Aspen, CO, the 2003 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program, as well as the 2003 Steans Institute for Young Artists at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.

Jason has performed with saxophonist Matana Roberts at venues such as the Blue Note, Jazz Gallery, Tonic (NYC), Etnafest (Sicily, Italy), and the Moers Jazz Festival (Germany) as well as Kendrick Oliver’s New Life Jazz Orchestra in festivals such as the Newport Jazz Festival, Tanglewood Jazz Festival, the Beantown Jazz Festival, the Marblehead Jazz Festival, and the Berks Jazz Festival. Jason has had the distinct privilege to record with artists such as Billy Pierce, Terry Lynn Carrington, and Grace Kelly, Warren Wolf, Bob Shepherd, Gabriel Hernandez, and Fransisco Mela.

Mr. Palmer has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival, Tanglewood Jazz Festival. the Etna Jazz Festival (Sicily), Moers Jazz Festival (Germany), Malta Jazz Festival, Beantown Jazz Festival, WinterFest (Knitting Factory, NYC), Rotterdam International Jazz Festival, Fort Napolean Jazz Festial (France), Langnau Jazz Nights (Switzerland), Badajoz Inter. Jazz Festival (Spain), Zaragoza Jazz Festival (Spain), Jaen Jazz Festival (Spain), Lugo Jazz Festival (Spain), Highland Jazz Festival, Marblehead Jazz Festival, Cordoba Jazz Festival (Spain), Salamanca Inter. Jazz Festival (Spain), Avila Jazz Festival (Spain), Cultergest Jazz Festival (Portugal), Porto Jazz Festival (Portugal),and the Berks Jazz Festival.

Jason’s quintet has been serving as the house band at Boston’s historical Wally’s Jazz Café for the past eight years. He recently released his debut recording entitled “Songbook”. The album is comprised of nine original compositions and features Greg Osby (alto) and Ravi Coltrane (tenor). In September of 2007, trumpeter Jason Palmer received a grant from the Greenwald Foundation to commission a work for the 2007 Festival of New Trumpet Music held in New York City for his quintet

As an educator, Jason was recently hired to teach trumpet at the New School in NYC. Jason is also a faculty member of the Aquinas College Jazz Camp (Grand Rapids, MI) as well as the trumpet faculty in the Preparatory Division at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston for the past ten years. He was also a faculty member of the 2000 Mile High Jazz camp in Boulder Colorado and has given masterclasses throughout Europe.
